The Autumn, 2021 Global LGBTQA Feldenkrais Festival

The Autumn Global 2021 LGBTQA Online Feldenkrais Festival ran from Election Day, November 2 through November 7. We opened with an innovative program “A Lesson in Democracy” by Feldenkrais Educational Director Larry Goldfarb, Ph.D. The rest of the week featured teachers from three continents. Thank you to all of the teachers, Larry Goldfarb, Michael Landau, Fritha Pengelly, Scott Fraser, Connor Voss, Nick Strauss-Klein, Sarah Young, Maggy Burrowes, Alan Questel, Lisa Walker, Peggi Honig, Stacy Barrows, Antonio Ramos, and Joyce Lu.

Thank you to all of you who donated financially to the Festival. Your donations make it possible for us to provide excellent Feldenkrais programming to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, while simultaneously making a substantial donation to LGBTQ organizations.

For the Autumn Global 2021 LGBTQA Online Feldenkrais Festival, we assembled many of the most sought-after teachers from three continents. For the first time we had three Festival co-hosts Fritha Pengelly, Connor Voss, and Frederick Schjang. We again featured a combination of Awareness Through Movement® classes, events, movies and interviews with leaders in the Feldenkrais community. With support of Frederick Schjang’s Online Membership Program, the Regions of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America, and SAGE LGBT Elder Centers, the LGBTQA Online Global Feldenkrais Festival is presented with no financial barrier to entry.

The Festival donated a substantial portion of revenues raised in the Autumn LGBTQA Festival went to Sage LGBT Elder Centers to assist in providing free Feldenkrais classes and programs to elders around New York City.

The Spring 2021 Global LGBTQA Online Feldenkrais Festival ran from March 17 through March 21, 2021. It featured awareness through movement® classes by Frederick Schjang, Alan Questel, Larry Goldfarb, David Zemach-Bersin, Jeff Haller, Scott Fraser, Fritha Pengelly, Stacy Barrows, Rob Black, Connor Voss, Peggi Honig, Colin Dixon, Robert Piloquin and others! It also featured films and for the first time we offered two lessons in French!

We partnered with an amazing organization, Rainbow Railroad, for this year's Festival to raise funds to support their efforts to help LGBT people escape violence and persecution in countries where LGBT people are under threat of violence and murder.

A special thank you to the New York Region of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America and Sage USA for their assistance in marketing.

The Autumn 2020 LGBTQA Feldenkrais Festival September 22 through Sunday, September 27, 2020 was the best Feldenkrais Festival to date. Twelve of the most sought after practitioners in North America attracted close to 2000 people world wide.

We featured 20 different classes plus special events and exclusive interviews with pioneers in the Feldenkrais community. We even presented a movie featuring Moshe Feldenkrais himself.

The Festival, open to everyone regardless of age, gender identity or romantic preference, featured some of the most sought-after Feldenkrais Teachers in the world including: Jeff Haller, Larry Goldfarb, Frederick Schjang, Scott Fraser, Nick Strauss-Klein, Peggi Honig, Angela Alston, and many, many more.

Again thanks go out to the New York Region of FGNA and the teachers who donated their time. That support allows us to continue to present the Festivals with no financial barrier to entry.

The inaugural Online LGBTQA Festival of Awareness Through Movement® classes May 1 through May 11, 2020.

In the Spring of 2020, all of us are looking to make sense of our lives in extraordinary times. To protect our health many of us were sequestered in our homes for much of the day or even days at a time. Our economic futures for the most part were and still are very uncertain. But just because the terrain was different, it didn’t mean that we couldn’t move forward. I found myself saying in an interview the other day, “ the economy may have stopped but I haven’t! I can still do good work!”

Why not do the seemingly impossible? Why not create an online series of classes, put together in just a few days, to celebrate the birthday of Moshe Feldenkrais?

In that spirit, I bought a new computer and my newly unemployed buddy, Alex, taught me how to use it. We set about celebrating International Feldenkrais Week with FREE classes taught by amazing group of some of my favorite Feldenkrais Teachers in the world from Friday, May 1 through Monday May 11, 2020.

Partnering with the New York Region of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America and some of my favorite Guild Certified Feldenkrais teachers in the USA we presented a special series of free classes that anyone could sign in to and enjoy! We set about creating a place where LGBTQ people and everyone else too could sign in from around the world and take a quality Feldenkrais class in their home in an LGBTQ-Positive environment. To our amazement, over a thousand people attended classes and many signed on to continue to study with the featured teachers!

FEATURED TEACHERS: Nick Strauss-Klein, Janet Steele, John Link, Connor Voss, Jill Van Note, Peggi Honig, Scott Fraser, Jeff Haller, Frederick Schjang and Larry Goldfarb, Ph.D, GCFT.

We had a special online Closing Celebration Jazz Trio in Harlem; The award winning Emmet Cohen Trio!

Here is a recap on the First LGBTQA Festival in May, 2020

We had over a thousand sign-ins and a great time was had by all!

I found myself saying in an interview the other day, “ the economy may have stopped but I haven’t! I can still do good work!” Why not do the seemingly impossible? Why not create an online series of classes, put together in just a few days, to celebrate the birthday of Moshe Feldenkrais?

In that spirit, I am thrilled to be celebrating International Feldenkrais Week with FREE classes taught by amazing group of some of my favorite Feldenkrais Teachers in the world from Friday, May 1 through Monday May 11, 2020.
